Cathy K. Jeong (She/Her) is the department lead for Survivor Services which includes the following programs -- Philadelphia Partnership for Resilience (PPR), Anti-Human Trafficking (AHT), Bridge to Wellness (BTW), and Home Study and Post Release Services (HS PRS) for unaccompanied children. She joined NSC in May 2015. Cathy oversees the department’s operations and direction to provide and expand services to survivors, children and their families who experienced family separation, torture, sex and labor trafficking, domestic violence, and other serious violent crimes. She is responsible for supporting managers to meet both long-term and short-term goals and oversight of grant reporting requirements under federal and state-funded projects and activities of multi-agency coalitions and partnerships. Cathy also provides training and technical assistance to mainstream and social service providers in the Greater Philadelphia Region.

Prior to joining NSC, Cathy worked in direct services with human trafficking and immigrant populations in both local and international capacities for 15 years. She has led various projects involving community outreach, networking with local organizations to strengthen partnerships, conducting trainings, and program development for International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW) at the United Nations (U.N.) to promote human rights through social welfare. At the U.N., she advised IFSW on important issues for future consideration based on attending various NGO committee meetings including Migration, World’s Indigenous Peoples, Elimination of Racism, Aging, and Family. She has also managed cases in legal and non-profit settings for more than six years and served overseas in Cambodia, Thailand, Kazakhstan, and Venezuela.

Cathy believes that the road to individual and collective healing hinges upon empowerment by helping her clients rediscover their own strengths and skills. Her aim is to achieve this through fostering a supportive environment and developing shared goals with both her staff and clients through a close partnership with them. She is constantly motivated by the extraordinary resiliency and resolve of individuals and families in our program and feels privileged to work with existing and newly arrived communities who rise up in the face of stigma, oppression, and poverty.

Cathy holds a Master of Social Work from Fordham University with a concentration in Leadership & Macro Practice focusing on community-based leadership.
