WHYY’s Emma Jacobs Visits the Garden
Its 9am in South Philly, snow is on the ground, and over 100 people begin gathering in a line that stretches around the corner. In the crowd of faces there are Philadelphians who have lived around the block for decades mingling with newer refugee arrivals. The weather is cold, but the mood warm. They have braved the morning cold to choose from about 900lbs of delicious fresh fruit, a weekly donation that NSC’s Garden Manager, Adam Forbes picks up weekly from a corporate donor, The Fruit Guys. As his truck pulls up, helpers begin unloading and distributing the produce. WHYY’s Emma Jacobs visited us last week, click the link the hear her reporting.
